Playing our part in the community
Without a thriving and healthy community, life would be pretty empty. It’s important and fulfilling to give back to our respective communities and our colleagues don’t hold back in showing their support. They regularly get involved in all manner of activities to build and support people in the wider community, from charity bike rides, supporting good causes, conservation, to environmental activities, to name but a few. And we actively encourage them to do more!
Social responsibility is part of who we are
We feel strongly about the importance of our giving back and actively support our staff to do more of the good stuff. Our colleagues:
Receive up to one day per month away from work to carry out approved charity work or help in the community.
Get financial support for any items that might help in giving back, for example tabards, clothing, tools and banners.
Are able to provide IT or professional skills & knowledge to registered charities free of charge, subject to availability and any legal considerations.
And provide IT business advice to registered charities up to board level to contribute towards their strategy.
Will help with IT procurement to secure charity discounts and provide technical, procurement and commercial assistance, subject to availability.
Swimming the Solent for the Ian Pratt Motor Neurone Disease Foundation.
For the last 8 years our colleague Richard Dawson has been helping the Ian Pratt Motor Neurone Disease Foundation. From his floating blue office Richard help support swimmers take on the challenge of swimming from the Isle of Wight to the Mainland, and back. Richard ensured they had the correct risk assessments in place and all the correct gear and was in the water for over 12 hours helping the swimmers.
Raising money to eradicate alzheimers
Marcus knows first hand about the devastating effects alzheimers can have on families. He wants to see a cure for degenerative brain diseases and raised over £800 in sponsorship for Alzheimer’s Research UK by cycling 98 miles through hilly South Wales. As a ‘warm up’ for this, he also cycled the 115 mile Tour De Manc!
Raising Funds for anti-cancer charities
Our very own John Galbraith played his part, (literally) and joined the rest of the band providing the music for the recent Fashion For Life charity event to raise funds for Isle of Man Breast Care and Breast Cancer Now.
