Overview
Our Data Centres and Colocation Service
Synapse operates two Tier 3 data centres in the Isle of Man, as part of the Manx Telecom Group. Both were designed to deliver 99.999% uptime and have achieved 100% service availability since operation began, a record now running beyond ten years.
Colocation runs on the same estate as our private cloud, sovereign cloud and disaster recovery services, connected by the group’s own fibre network. One site and one accountable operator.

Full control
Douglas North and Greenhill both sit on the group’s high-capacity fibre backbone, giving you geographic separation for resilience.

Power designed for failure
N+1 across generators, UPS, battery systems and LV panel distribution, backed by fully compartmented on-site electrical substations and 72 hours of secure on-site fuel storage. Power usage is monitored per rack. Standard presentation is dual 32A single phase, with three phase available on request.

Protection built into the building
Very early smoke detection (VESDA), Argonite gas fire suppression, flood protection and water detection, humidity control, and centralised building management. Buildings were sited specifically to mitigate environmental risk.

Security you can audit
High-security compounds with CCTV and 24-hour digital video recording. Two-factor electronic access with biometric access to sensitive areas. A 24x7x365 Network Operations Centre handles faults, service requests and access requests.

Connectivity, owned end to end
Both data centres connect on network infrastructure the group owns, with Points of Presence in Manchester and London and multiple diverse subsea routes off-island. Full detail on the Connectivity & Interconnect page.
