Disaster Recovery
Disaster recovery, tested and ready to run
Disaster recovery that replicates your environment to a standby site, tested annually with a documented outcome, and invoked by our engineers as soon as you declare. Rapid incident response, part of Synapse Adaptive Cloud.
Overview
Our Disaster Recovery Service
Disaster recovery is for the day your environment or hardware fails catastrophically. It keeps a replica of your infrastructure ready to take over, so critical services keep running while the primary environment is restored.
Within Adaptive Cloud, the standby environment sits wherever it best serves you — our own infrastructure, your infrastructure, or a combination — with the replication approach selected to fit the environment rather than fitted to a single product.
What Synapse disaster recovery gives you
A secondary environment, in the cloud or on-premises, that replicates your network, servers, storage, and applications, ready to activate when your primary environment fails. Support extends to both Dell and non-Dell virtual environments, with the approach scoped to your specific platform during design.
Why testing is the actual deliverable
A recovery plan is only as good as the last time it was tested. Ransomware recovery is tested and validated to under four hours. Synapse’s approach centres on testing and preparedness, informed by experience guiding customers through genuinely stressful recovery situations, not just designing recovery architecture on paper.
Why ownership changes the answer
Most disaster recovery services are a software layer sitting on top of someone else’s infrastructure. Synapse owns the primary and the failover site. When your compliance team asks where your data goes during a failover event, the answer is a place, not a chain of subcontractors.
our approach
How it works
A successful recovery plan starts with understanding what needs to keep running, where the risks sit, and how quickly systems need to come back online. Synapse turns that into a practical disaster recovery environment that is designed, implemented, and tested around your estate.

Straight Answers
A managed standby environment that takes over when your primary environment or hardware fails catastrophically, so critical services keep running.
Backup restores data. Disaster recovery keeps systems running by failing them over to a standby environment. Most organisations need both.
In a second Synapse-owned Tier 3 datacentre on the Isle of Man, physically separated from your primary site and connected over our own network rather than the public internet. You choose which of our sites holds the failover copy.
Recovery targets are agreed per service rather than applied across the estate, because not every system earns the same protection.
- Tier 1 — continuous replication, failover inside 15 minutes.
- Tier 2 — hourly replication, failover inside four hours.
- Tier 3 — nightly replication, failover inside one working day.
Each tier is written into the service agreement and tested twice a year.
Recovery time objective is how long a service may stay down before the outage starts to hurt. Recovery point objective is how much recent work you can afford to lose — the gap between the last good copy and the moment things failed.
Set both before choosing a technology. They decide what the design has to do, and what it will cost.
Yes. Both the primary and the failover environment sit in Synapse data centres within the British Isles, and data never leaves that footprint in the course of normal operation or a failover.
We will provide the residency evidence your auditors ask for, including the physical locations and the parties with access.
